our story

Owen Jordan, proprietor, renovated a 1950’s custard stand and opened the doors to DeliLand in 1991. After graduating from The New School’s culinary program, and having spent more than a decade in the restaurant business as head culinary chef and maî·tre d, DeliLand represented Owen’s vision of providing great food without the pretense of a high-end restaurant. It also represented part of the American dream…owning and growing your own business.

Small businesses matter. They contribute greatly to local economies, supporting other local businesses and providing valuable opportunities for employment. They’re part of the very fabric of a community. This is certainly the case with DeliLand. Located on Route 52 in Lake Carmel, New York, DeliLand has become a small business icon within the area.

Over the years, DeliLand has supported the local community and provided jobs to hundreds of kids, teaching and mentoring them as they made their way through high school and college. Many have stopped in over the years expressing gratitude for having had the opportunity of working there and developing a solid work ethic.

Now celebrating 30 years in business, DeliLand is in the midst of a facelift. With a nod to the past and an eye to the future, they’ve now added a full menu of hard and soft serve ice cream.

As the marketplace and economy continue to evolve, DeliLand continues to be a solid member of the business sector and supporter of the greater Carmel, Lake Carmel and Kent communities.
